Meeting

November Workshop:
7th, 8th, and 9th.
Theo Mormon technique
by Nadine Sanders, the singing weaver
.

Our new vice president Brenda Kellar has assigned us a weaving challenge for 2025-2026
“Initial Relativity”
Use your initials to inspire your challenge. Your initials may describe a type of yarn, color, weave structure or finishing technique.
We will share them at our June 2026 meeting.

Challenge

Our 2024-2025 Challenge

Using the “Tubular Spectrum PlayCards”,
each member chose a mystery envelope with color card inside
and are challenged to create something with their newfound color.
Maybe using the solid color, and playing with value and hue,
what happens when a tint or tone is added?
Or add complementary colors or analogous colors?
Challenges will be presented at the June guild meeting.

meeting

The Guild was recently gifted a generous amount of yarn. Inspired by the weaving documentary we viewed last year, members thought that we could use the yarn to give back to the community. We’ve decided to use the yarn to weave towels for Habitat for Humanity and/ or scarves for the Cancer Center. Stephanie collected these towels to deliver now to Habitat and will collect items throughout the year, until September and deliver a second batch.
We would like this to be an ongoing outreach project. Weavers are encouraged to work together and share yarn.

meeting

Our next Guild meeting is Saturday, December 14th from
12:00 to 3:30 P.M. at the Jacksonville Library – 340 West C Street, Jacksonville.

It’s time for our annual Potluck and Gift The Guild silent auction.

Check out the Saturday Handweavers Guild National Park Challenge display at the Jacksonville Library throughout the month of November. Charlotte and LInda did a great job!

Charlotte and Linda created another beautiful Saturday Handweavers Guild display at the Medford Library for the month of December celebrating SHG’s 50th anniversary. Be sure to check it out.

news

I just noticed John Roden’s obituary in the Ashland news today. Apparently, he drowned in a kayaking accident in British Columbia. Lin, a longtime member of Saturday Handweavers Guild died in 2019. I feel so sad for their daughters and family. For those who are interested, here is the link to his Obituary
